After years away from my homeland, I finally returned to the land that raised me - my Uttarakhand, my Kumaun. When I came back to Kumaun, I saw much has changed over time. The way people live, dress, work - even their daily routines everything seemed to have shifted with time. But in the midst of all this transformation, one thing stood still- Kumauni cuisine, preserving the essence of who we are. That realization hit me deep. Despite modern influences and the ever-evolving lifestyle, our traditional food still flourish. It stuck me that Kumauni dishes aren’t just food, they’re memories, emotions, and stories passed down through generations. I’ve spoken with many local people, from elders to youngsters, and every conversation had one thing in common: pride. Pride in the flavors of our childhood, pride in the meals our grandmothers made, and pride in preserving something so pure, so rich in essence.
